Preview: DJ Hero Video Game with Turntable

After generating some serious buzz over the last few months, DJ Hero is finally coming out on October 27. From the looks of it, it’s basically Guitar Hero with a turntable and mixer. You get to play as legends like Grandmaster Flash and DJ Jazzy Jeff while relying on timing and rhythm to rack up points and move crowds.

Personally, I think it’s a cool concept. It puts dj’ing in the spotlight and makes it more fun and accessible to everyone. Hopefully it makes more people want to do it for real.

DJ Hero is $119 for Wii, PS3 and XBOX 360, and $99 for PS2. Click on the link below to order it for your system:

Throwback Track: Somebody’s Watching Me - Rockwell ft. Michael Jackson

Speed: 124 bpm

The DJ’s Take: This is a classic Halloween track, as well as Geico’s song of choice for its current ad campaign. Several questions - why is Michael Jackson doing the hook for a one hit wonder (here’s the Wikipedia answer)? Who takes showers with their shorts on? Was he trying to sound like the dude who does Monster Mash? And when was that haircut ever acceptable? Seriously - leave a comment and let me know.

Anyway, whether you’re dj’ing or putting together a playlist for your Halloween party, you will probably get a request for this. Get it before you forget.
