Fastest Rising Singles in the Top 40 (8/16/10)

Whether you’re a dj, or music is your fashion accessory of choice, you need to keep in mind that there are a few tracks threatening to break into the well-established Billboard top 10. Here are my top 3 prospects, based on observation and gut feeling:

1. Magic - B.o.B ft. Rivers Cuomo

When a song is featured on TV, it gets an extra marketing boost, and that’s especially true with this track. It’s bouncy, happy, harmless hiphop, and that’s a winning formula for mainstream music listeners.

2. Just The Way You Are - Bruno Mars

I think this track is rising fast because ladies like the message. Plus, it’s got a positive, motivational sound and a neat little breakbeat to boot.

3. Club Can’t Handle Me - David Guetta and Flo Rida

This song is the musical equivalent of crack. Record companies know we’re addicted to pop EDM, so they keep feedin us and feedin us. The over-the-top happy and trippy production puts this almost on par with those seizure-inducing anthems from DDR, and the public seems to be eating it up. On a side note, it’s interesting to see that we’re not quite sick of Flo Rida yet. Amazing longevity for any modern pop artist not named Gaga.

Have you spun these at a club gig, or played them at a party or function? Did you get a good reaction? Leave a comment below and let us know.
