dj mix/mashup: Levels N 2 Deep (Avicii, Drake, SZA, Shawn Mendes)

Made with Logic Pro at 125 bpm Another project with origins in an old mix . We added in a couple extra songs from the original loop, and to make the transitions a little less abrupt, I put in some sound effects ("Boomerang Downer" and "Airfield" as software instruments in Logic Pro, in case you were wondering). Individual software instruments can get drowned out by finished audio tracks side-by-side, but things worked out in this one.

dj mix/mashup: be without your mask off (Mary J. Blige, Future, Drake)

Made with Logic Pro at 69 bpm So I've been sitting on this since early December; an example of a mix I wasn't really happy with, but sank enough hours into, and thought there was still something interesting there. Sound feels a bit thin, not enough bass (loops I chose either didn't have enough or had so much that I adjusted the EQ to tone it down), and the drums are a bit much - or not enough - depending on the headphones you're using. On a side note: none of these songs really fit into any of the playlists on djcheatsheet.com melodically, and I didn't want to make a separate 3 song list, so these will be floating on their own island for now. In the meantime, hope you like this better than I do, or you find something compelling you can develop on your own. Featured songs: Be Without You - Mary J. Blige Mask Off - Future Hotline Bling - Drake

DJ mix/mashup: karma x kill bill (SZA, Drake, Lloyd Banks, Janet Jackson, Steve Lacy, Cam'ron)

Made with Logic Pro at 86 bpm Kill Bill - SZA Best I Ever Had - Drake Come Back to Me - Janet Jackson Bad Habit - Steve Lacy Karma - Lloyd Banks ft. Avant Is this a medley or a mashup? Or maybe neither; who knows. Best I Ever Had and Come Back to Me are sped up a bit (closer to 80 bpm), but no vocals, so they aren't getting the chipmunk treatment. On a side note, I never listened to Bad Habit all the way through until recently, and had no idea there was some beat-boxing at the end. So of course we threw that in for posterity. Key- and bpm-compatible playlists: 85 to 90 bpm 80 to 85 bpm

dj mix/mashup: Rich Flex x I'd Do Anything To Make You Smile x 734 (Drake, 21 Savage, Jack Harlow, Juice WRLD)

Made with Logic Pro at 77 bpm Songs used: Rich Flex - Drake, 21 Savage I'd Do Anything to Make You Smile - Jack Harlow 734 - Juice WRLD Simple enough construction - take the female vocals from the beginning of Rich Flex, the basic guitar riff from 734, and lay them over the backbone of the vocal-free beat in I'd Do Anything to Make You Smile. In fact, there were a couple loop-able instrumental-only sections in I'd Do Anything..., which you'll hear in this little mix/mashup. Some other interesting key- and bpm-compatible songs in this playlist ; I only used 3, but there's definitely more to work with in there.

mini-mashup: unholy x n 2 deep (Sam Smith, Drake, Kim Petras, Future)

Made with Logic Pro at 66 bpm Songs used: Unholy - Sam Smith, Kim Petras N 2 Deep - Drake, Future First I wanted to mix this with M.I.A.'s Bad Girls , but that's been done. Then I thought of Ginuwine's Pony , but apparently that's been done too. So we settled on a specific loop in N 2 Deep that worked well enough with the key of Unholy (which has a good instrumental-only section at the end, starting around 2:19). Obviously not a finished product, but you repeat a few times, and it's the start of something, right? Maybe we'll build this out a little more in the future.

dj mix/mashup: 6 man [drake] x devil in a new dress [kanye west, rick ross]

Made with Logic Pro at 82 bpm Clip from mix #69 - two big beats on top of each other, which I could've done a better job adjusting for a cleaner sound. But if you listen to the actual mix, the transition sounds smooth; my goal for this video was to create a loop that feels like the first draft of a mashup/remix. Worth building on for a future project. Key- and bpm-compatible playlist

dj mix clip: you owe me (nas, ginuwine) x after hours (the weeknd) x down hill (drake)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm Clip from mix #76 - the drums for You Owe Me and Down Hill were surprisingly tricky to get an exact beatmatch for. Cycled through a number of tracks from this playlist before we settled on The Weeknd's After Hours , using the opening instrumental about 2:12 to 2:29 into the song. I especially liked how it sounded over Down Hill; that could be an interesting mashup to make in the future. Key- and bpm-compatible playlist

DJ mix: session 76 ft. Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm 17:50 of 80s and pop music (with a little hiphop) Check out some more mixes here . This episode was made using this playlist . Tracklist (start times in parentheses): 1. Crazy - Gnarls Barkley 2. Running Up That Hill - Kate Bush (2:35) 3. Rock Steady - The Whispers (4:34) 4. Because of You - Ne-Yo (6:56) 5. I Can't Go For That (No Can Do) - Hall & Oates (10:05) 6. You Owe Me - Nas ft. Ginuwine (12:21) 7. After Hours - The Weeknd (14:54) 8. Down Hill - Drake (15:11)

Jimmy Cooks - Drake ft. 21 Savage

tempo: 78 bpm up until 1:39, 83 bpm after the DJ's take: If I were a streetballer, Jimmy Cooks would be my nom de rue (as opposed to nom de plume ). Lots of no-look passes and killer crossovers in my imaginary youtube mixtape. Could also work as an alternate title for Jimmy Butler's cooking show . I feel like that first 1:39 with the horns could sound cool with T.I.'s Ride Wit Me ; no real percussion-only sections in either one though, as far as I can tell. Maybe we'll take a closer look sometime - stay tuned (but don't hold your breath). download or stream Jimmy Cooks: amazon dj cheat sheet playlist (75 to 80 bpm) , dj cheat sheet playlist (80 to 85 bpm)

DJ mix/mashup: Throw Sum Mo Mercy (ft. Ginuwine and Kanye West)

Made with Logic Pro at 72 bpm This one came together a little quicker than usual. Can't go wrong with that heavy intro to Ginuwine's Pony; wanted to add a couple softer, percussion-free instrumentals on top, Lemonade and 7 rings came to mind, and away we went. Decent little party mix/mashup, if I do say so myself - or at least the beginning of one. The ingredients (and hopefully some inspiration for your next creation): DJ Cheat Sheet playlist . Lemonade - Internet Money, Don Toliver, Gunna, NAV Pony - Ginuwine 7 rings - Ariana Grande Mercy - Kanye West, Big Sean, Pusha T, 2 Chainz Jumpman - Drake, Future Throw Sum Mo - Rae Sremmurd, Nicki Minaj

DJ mix/mashup: Higher Down in the DM (Yo Gotti, Drake, Baauer & Just Blaze ft. Jay-Z, Jack Harlow)

Made with Logic Pro at 77 bpm As I start to do more of these, the more I understand the acronym that my third grade teacher used to say on a regular basis: K.I.S.S. Keep it simple, stupid. In this case, don't stack 4 or 5 different tracks on top of each other. These songs are individual creations, not components in whatever a dummy like me is trying to put together. Basslines can clash unintentionally, loud on top of loud can create distortion, etc. Takes some more thought than I expected. Different from mixes where you're holding a beatmatch for maybe 30 seconds at most during a transition from one song into the next. Anyway, this one came out alright once we simplified things. Second half is Baauer's Higher mixed with the drum-less intro to Drake's Headlines, then blended over the drum-less intro to Jack Harlow's Nail Tech, and finally we bring in the end of Nail Tech. Interesting note on the ending to Nail Tech - sounds a bit like Kanye's Flashing Ligh

6 Man - Drake

tempo: 79 bpm the dj’s take:  Song #5 in episode #69 of our mix show (7:42): A rare case where a song pops up two separate times in a mix. First, we did a little a surgery and cut out 1:45-1:48 in 6 Man (a little stretch of percussion-less distorted synth), copied/pasted 3 times, and used that for the transition out of the percussion-less section in Heat Waves . Then I took 1:48-2:00 in 6 Man, which includes a vocal-free loop with percussion as the transition into Missy Elliott's The Rain . Here's how it looked in Logic Pro X - look for the red arrow, and you'll see this all starts ~7:42 into the mix: Then we utilized that same 1:48-2:00 loop for the transition out of The Rain before getting into the full version of 6 Man: Could've been simpler, but it sounded good in the end. If you're in the 75 to 80 bpm range, you can also mix with: Say Something - Timbaland, Drake [80 bpm] Throw Some D's - Rich Boy [80 bpm] Rich MF - Trippie Redd, Polo G

Toosie Slide - Drake

tempo: 81-82 bpm the dj’s take:  Song #1 in episode #69 of our mix show: A little confession - the key for this one is a little off vs. the other songs in the mix. You could probably get away with that in a live setting. But I'm a little OCD, you know? So that's why I went with Can't Have Everything right after; very percussion-heavy, so it's harder to tell. Sometimes you need to play a trick to make the magic happen. If you're in the 80 to 85 bpm range, you can mix with: Heat Waves - Glass Animals Sneakin' - Drake, 21 Savage [85 bpm] Used To This - Future, Drake [83 bpm] Throw Some D's - Rich Boy [80 bpm] Oh Boy - Cam'ron, Juelz Santana [83 bpm] Devil in a New Dress - Kanye West, Rick Ross [79-80 bpm] The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly) - Missy Elliott [80 bpm] Say Something - Timbaland, Drake [80 bpm] 6 Foot 7 Foot - Lil Wayne, Cory Gunz [84 bpm] Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst - Kendrick Lamar [83 bpm] Toosie Slide - Drake [81-
