This Is How We Do - Katy Perry

Speed: 96 bpm The DJ's Take: Rule of thumb - when a new Katy Perry single comes out, you should probably download it for the short-term 'new music' value and potential longer-term hit value. Not a bad track for your rotation, and the lyrics seem to speak to your target audience (college students and twenty-somethings). If you're staying key-compatible, try mixing with Na Na - Trey Songz , Paranoid - Ty Dolla $ign , Return of the Mack - Mark Morrison , One More Chance - Notorious BIG , No Games - Serani , and Real Love - Mary J. Blige . If you're transitioning into the 100 bpm range, Turn Down For What or Get Low - Dillon Francis & DJ Snake might be a nice jumping off point. Download the song: Amazon: This Is How We Do

It Was Always You - Maroon 5

Speed: 104 bpm The DJ's Take: Is it just me or would this make a great song for a training montage from an 80s movie ? Expect this to climb up the charts at some point. If you're looking to stay key-compatible, try blending with tracks like One Dance - Drake ft. Wizkid & Kyla , Let's Talk About Sex - Salt N Pepa , Colors - Halsey , Piece By Piece - Kelly Clarkson , In My Room - Yellow Claw & DJ Mustard ft. Ty Dolla $ign & Tyga , Classic - MKTO , Lose Yourself To Dance and F**kin' Problems . Download the song: Amazon:  It Was Always You

All About That Bass - Meghan Trainor

Speed: 134 bpm The DJ's Take:  Definitely one for the ladies, but I have to admit - it's catchy. Sounds like a hit, so certainly worth a download for your next sock hop or shindig - would make a pretty nice little mashup/mix with  Beautiful Girls - Sean Kingston . Some other key-compatible (although slower) mix recommendations include La La La - Naughty Boy ft. Sam Smith , Pompeii - Bastille , Invincible - Borgeous , Dear Boy - Avicii , I Could Be the One (Avicii vs Nicky Romero) [Nicktim - Radio Edit] - Single - Avicii & Nicky Romero , Cinema - Benny Benassi , The Other Side - Jason Derulo , Alive - Krewella , and The Veldt - EP - deadmau5 . Or try double-timing over something like Pop That - French Montana or Pour It Up - Rihanna for an NSFW (Not Safe For Weddings) mix. Download the song: Amazon: All About That Bass

Bang Bang - Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj

tempo: 75 bpm bpm range: 70 bpm  to  75 bpm ,  75 bpm  to  80 bpm The DJ's Take: 'Girl power' overload - I feel like this should be in the soundtrack for some Broadway musical. Sub in Katy Perry for Jessie J and you're guaranteed at least a short-term hit, but there's still potential here. And who can resist a track that grabs its hook from an 80s hit by Wham! (hint: a mashup/mix may be interesting, depending on the audience)? Other key-compatible mix recommendations in the 70 to 75 bpm range include Motivation - Kelly Rowland , Young Forever - Jay-Z , and Love In This Club (feat. Young Jeezy) - Usher . Download the song: Amazon: Bang Bang

Come Get It Bae - Pharrell

Speed: 120 bpm The DJ's Take: Talk about slow burn - I feel like I was hearing this all over TV for awhile when the album came out, and now it's a single with its own video. Call me Captain Obvious, but this would be a nice little key-compatible mashup/mix with  Blurred Lines - Robin Thicke (and even Call Me Maybe - Carly Rae Jepsen if you're feeling playful). She Came To Give It To You by Usher could work too, if you mix it in right. Then when you're ready to transition into a higher bpm range without changing the key, maybe go into something like Summer - Calvin Harris . Download the song: Amazon: Come Get It Bae
