Blueberry Faygo - Lil Mosey

tempo: 99 bpm

the dj's take: Song #3 in session 52 (4:35):

I'm not normally one to listen to lyrics, but sometimes they tell you when it's time to make a transition in a mix. In this case, hearing Lil Mosey say 'big' made me think of Fatman Scoop yelling 'Bass Drop!' near the beginning of Be Faithful. So together, they say 'big bass drop' (via genius.com):

Entertained the idea of overlapping the two, but the heavy drums from Be Faithful kind of drowned out Lil Mosey, so we opted for the drop instead. Worth a try in your next pop/hiphop set.

Some other key-compatible music:

Happier - Marshmello, Bastille
Lonely Together - Avicii ft. Rita Ora
Me & The Rhythm - Selena Gomez
Crazy In Love - Beyoncé ft. Jay-Z
Doo Wop (That Thing) - Lauryn Hill
I Think Of You - Jeremih, Chris Brown, Big Sean

Lucky You - Eminem ft. Joyner Lucas

tempo: 76-77 bpm bpm range: 75 bpm  to  80 bpm the dj's take: I was wondering why the phrase 'Lucky You' sounded familiar... then remembered my Lucky Brand jeans say this behind the zipper: So let's say you're on a date. Things are going well, relations commence, and your companion sees that message. Cute? Or a mood killer? Either way, that's a lot of bravado to live up to. Brings to mind Brick Tamland in Anchorman: As for the track, try mixing with: Bam - Jay-Z ft. Damian Marley PIE - Future ft. Stay - The Kid LAROI ft. Justin Bieber

tempo: 85 bpm bpm range:   85  to  90 bpm the dj's take: Song #9 in episode #65 of our mix show (22:29): Cool transition out of Scarface's Guess Who's Back ; loop that properly and you've got an interesting potential beat / mashup. And then we slide into T-Pain and Kehlani's I Like Dat to slow down the pace and take us into the home stretch. A must-spin for any pop dj - serves up a burst of bouncy energy for the youth who've been cooped up for awhile now.
