The BMC Top 5 for August 2010




















Ever since I started this blog, I’ve posted lists of top pop songs based on my own feelings and observations. But I always wrote them knowing that the perspective of one man is limited. Fortunately, the traffic on this site has picked up over the past few months, so from now on, I’ll be posting the Beat Match City Top 5 every week and every month based on what readers are reading the most.

Long story short, be sure to visit this site every 8th, 15th and 22nd of each month for the top 5 from the previous week. And if you want a longer term view of what’s hot on the charts, visit this site the first day of every month for the top 5 from the previous month.

Lo and Pitbull - a partnership that brought us one of the great in-concert images of the 2010s : Hey; he's only human. As for the track, a loud, thumping mega-hit when it came out. Still has value as a throwback on a dance-oriented, unpretentious Top 40 night. tempo: 70 bpm bpm range:   65 bpm  to  70 bpm ,  70 bpm  to  75 bpm the dj's take: Perfect song for an adDJ - ~100 seconds that will boom through the speakers and rile up the crowd before you move on to the next banger. If you spin hiphop, this one needs to be in the rotation for the foreseeable future. Keep in mind this morphs into a second song at around 1:50 with a bpm of 65 bpm.
