The BMC Top 5 for October 2011

LMFAO tracks are the bookends for this month's Top 5:

BMC Top 5 Singles for October 2011:

1. Party Rock Anthem - LMFAO

2. Don't Wanna Go Home - Jason Derulo

3. Pumped Up Kicks - Foster The People

4. ET - Katy Perry ft. Kanye West

5. Sexy And I Know It - LMFAO

Top 5 BPMs for October 2011:

1. 125 bpm

2. 130 bpm

3. 100 bpm

4. 120 bpm

5. 140 bpm

Based on the feedback I'm getting, dance music in that 125 to 130 bpm range is still king. And why not; in a global recession, we all need some optimism & energy. Just don't forget to diversify from time to time. People like a little variety, and trends can change in the blink of an eye.

DJ mix: session 76 ft. Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill

DJ mix/mashup: no can do because of you (ft. Hall & Oates and Ne-Yo)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm A quick clip from the last mix , and one of my favorite transitions in it. Kind of alluring, mysterious; maybe we can make a more fully realized remix/mashup someday. If you're wondering what the image is in the background at the start of the video, those are quahogs and a channeled whelk I dug out of the sand in low tide on a recent beach trip. Pretty solid haul, and good eating for sure. Although I probably should've kept them separate - apparently whelks like to eat the clams .

dj mix/mashup: 6 man [drake] x devil in a new dress [kanye west, rick ross]

Made with Logic Pro at 82 bpm Clip from mix #69 - two big beats on top of each other, which I could've done a better job adjusting for a cleaner sound. But if you listen to the actual mix, the transition sounds smooth; my goal for this video was to create a loop that feels like the first draft of a mashup/remix. Worth building on for a future project. Key- and bpm-compatible playlist
