Nothing But Trouble - Lil Wayne & Charlie Puth

Speed: 63 bpm

The DJ's Take: Am I imagining things, or is hiphop getting cool again? And who'd have thought Charlie Puth would become a hiphop hook specialist? I like this one - good variation and a driving musicality that supports the vocals. The beatmaker obviously took the time, and the result is solid.

A little unconventional, but if you're doing some key-compatible mashups, try half-timing with tracks like the following: The Only Way Is Up - Martin Garrix & Tiesto, Avicii's Levels, Summertime Sadness (Cedric Gervais Remix) - Lana Del Rey, Flo Rida's Good Feeling, Pound The Alarm - Nicki Minaj, The Night Is Still Young - Nicki Minaj, I Will Never Let You Down - Rita Ora, Addicted To You - Avicii, Die Young - Ke$ha, Dare You - Hardwell, Calling (Lose My Mind) [Radio Edit] [feat. Ryan Tedder] - Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso, City of Dreams (feat. Ruben Haze) - Dirty South & Alesso

dj mix/mashup: do you think of me [mariah carey] x always forever [bryson tiller]

Links: Made with Logic Pro at 72 bpm Fun little instrumental blend of Bryson Tiller's Always Forever , which we used in mix 66 , and Mariah Carey's Do You Think of Me , which ended up on the cutting room floor. As you can see up top, I broke out the scalpel and did some slicing to make the beats match up better. Final verdict: Worth it. Follow the playlist on djcheatsheet.com

DJ mix/mashup: no can do because of you (ft. Hall & Oates and Ne-Yo)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm A quick clip from the last mix , and one of my favorite transitions in it. Kind of alluring, mysterious; maybe we can make a more fully realized remix/mashup someday. If you're wondering what the image is in the background at the start of the video, those are quahogs and a channeled whelk I dug out of the sand in low tide on a recent beach trip. Pretty solid haul, and good eating for sure. Although I probably should've kept them separate - apparently whelks like to eat the clams .
