Spotlight - Marshmello, Lil Peep

tempo: 75 bpm

the dj's take: Song #5 in our #55 mix (6:24):

We already went over how this flows nicely out of Lupe Fiasco's The Show Goes On with the guitars, but that was pretty straightforward. The transition into Chris Brown's X took some creativity - cut out an instrumental-only section, copy-pasted, and laid it over the ending vocals of Spotlight:

If you feel like sprinkling a little rock influence into a pop or hiphop set, this is a solid option. Some other key- and bpm-compatible music:

DJ mix/mashup: no can do because of you (ft. Hall & Oates and Ne-Yo)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm A quick clip from the last mix , and one of my favorite transitions in it. Kind of alluring, mysterious; maybe we can make a more fully realized remix/mashup someday. If you're wondering what the image is in the background at the start of the video, those are quahogs and a channeled whelk I dug out of the sand in low tide on a recent beach trip. Pretty solid haul, and good eating for sure. Although I probably should've kept them separate - apparently whelks like to eat the clams .

dj mix/mashup: 6 man [drake] x devil in a new dress [kanye west, rick ross]

Made with Logic Pro at 82 bpm Clip from mix #69 - two big beats on top of each other, which I could've done a better job adjusting for a cleaner sound. But if you listen to the actual mix, the transition sounds smooth; my goal for this video was to create a loop that feels like the first draft of a mashup/remix. Worth building on for a future project. Key- and bpm-compatible playlist
