Cry Me A River - Justin Timberlake

tempo: 74 bpm

bpm range: 70 bpm to 75 bpm

the dj's take: Track #6 in our episode 29 mix (14:16):

Kind of a tough one (for me) to work with. While the percussion in many singles features sharp and compact beats, these drums feel more like footsteps crunching through snow or pebbles / sand; drags out a little more, and sounds somewhat uneven. Maybe it's easier in Serato.

Anyway, had to chop up the transition from Still Tippin' to smooth everything out:

A big hit back in the day that deserves a longer-term spot in the rotation. Sing-along appeal is an 11 out of 10.

Try mixing with:

Sensualidad - Bad Bunny x Prince Royce x J Balvin
2U - David Guetta & Justin Bieber
I Fall Apart - Post Malone
Believer - Major Lazer, Showtek
Everyday - A$AP Rocky ft. Rod Stewart
Whatcha Say - Jason Derulo
Ridin' - Chamillionaire
No Matter What - T.I.

dj mix/mashup: do you think of me [mariah carey] x always forever [bryson tiller]

Links: Made with Logic Pro at 72 bpm Fun little instrumental blend of Bryson Tiller's Always Forever , which we used in mix 66 , and Mariah Carey's Do You Think of Me , which ended up on the cutting room floor. As you can see up top, I broke out the scalpel and did some slicing to make the beats match up better. Final verdict: Worth it. Follow the playlist on djcheatsheet.com

DJ mix/mashup: no can do because of you (ft. Hall & Oates and Ne-Yo)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm A quick clip from the last mix , and one of my favorite transitions in it. Kind of alluring, mysterious; maybe we can make a more fully realized remix/mashup someday. If you're wondering what the image is in the background at the start of the video, those are quahogs and a channeled whelk I dug out of the sand in low tide on a recent beach trip. Pretty solid haul, and good eating for sure. Although I probably should've kept them separate - apparently whelks like to eat the clams .
