Out of Touch - Hall & Oates

tempo: 116 bpm

The DJ's Take: Song #8 in our #60 mix (12:16):

Fits like a glove over Dua Lipa's New Rules. In fact, if you listen to the transition, it's hard to tell (at least at first) that there are two songs playing at the same time. One thing to keep in mind - when you're mixing into Out of Touch, don't necessarily aim to end the previous song right before Darryl Hall's vocals begin. Focus more on when the opening synths/keyboards come in after the percussion-heavy intro, about 0:16 in.

Also, on the other end, I like getting out of Out of Touch at about the 2:49-2:50 mark, when the little interlude ends. A fun, almost seamless drop into another compatible Hall & Oates hit in Private Eyes. Here's how it looked in Logic Pro X:

DJ mix/mashup: no can do because of you (ft. Hall & Oates and Ne-Yo)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm A quick clip from the last mix , and one of my favorite transitions in it. Kind of alluring, mysterious; maybe we can make a more fully realized remix/mashup someday. If you're wondering what the image is in the background at the start of the video, those are quahogs and a channeled whelk I dug out of the sand in low tide on a recent beach trip. Pretty solid haul, and good eating for sure. Although I probably should've kept them separate - apparently whelks like to eat the clams .

dj mix/mashup: 6 man [drake] x devil in a new dress [kanye west, rick ross]

Made with Logic Pro at 82 bpm Clip from mix #69 - two big beats on top of each other, which I could've done a better job adjusting for a cleaner sound. But if you listen to the actual mix, the transition sounds smooth; my goal for this video was to create a loop that feels like the first draft of a mashup/remix. Worth building on for a future project. Key- and bpm-compatible playlist
