Chasing The Sun - The Wanted

Speed: 128 bpm The DJ's Take: Not quite as abominable as Glad You Came , but still pretty bad. Is it a club hit? Quite possibly. My guess is that it will get every possible opportunity to catch fire on the radio, and when it does, that's your cue to pick it up. Turn on key adjust and mix with: Scream - Usher , Glad You Came - The Wanted , Ass Back Home - Gym Class Heroes , You Make Me Feel - Cobra Starship Download the song: Amazon:

Wide Awake - Katy Perry

Speed: 80 bpm The DJ's Take: Apologies for not posting in awhile, and thanks to the readers who have been e-mailing their discontent. Good to know you care. Anyway, this track is already in the Billboard Top 10, but is it something you play in the club? Depends. Much slower tempo obviously means it doesn't go with the usual 130 bpm dance singles that are your bread and butter right now. But it could work at the end of the night, maybe in a bar-pub setting. Somehow this feels more like a nice soundtrack for a young adult TV drama on the CW or a big screen romance starring Channing Tatum (or someone of that ilk). Download the song: Amazon:

Call Me Maybe - Carly Rae Jepsen

Speed: 120 bpm The DJ's Take: I've been trying to avoid reviewing this for awhile now, but it's getting to a point where I am doing you a disservice. So let me state the obvious - if you dj at a venue where Caucasian females are, this is an absolute must-play. And you know how it is when this demographic gets a song stuck on the brain - the shelf life is surprisingly long. Anyway, long story short, download this as soon as possible if you don't have it already. And when it stops being hot, delete any evidence you ever had it in the first place. Mix with: Tonight Is The Night - Outasight Download the song: Amazon:

The BMC Top 5 for May 2012

#1 stays the same, but there was some turnover from April lower down the list: BMC Top 5 Singles for May 2012: 1. Levels - Avicii 2. Wild Ones - Flo Rida ft. Sia 3. Climax - Usher 4. Party Rock Anthem - LMFAO 5. Where Have You Been - Rihanna Top 5 BPMs for May 2012: 1. 130 bpm 2. 125 bpm 3. 120 bpm 4. 100 bpm 5. 135 bpm Couple notes to mention. First, we did have a distinct #1 and #2 in terms of singles, but it was a photo finish. And based on my own observations at local bars (haven't been to a club in awhile), pop EDM is still king by a wide margin. What else is new. Got your own ideas about what should be in the Top 5? Leave a comment. (Photo via Morguefile )

Let's Go - Calvin Harris ft. Ne-Yo

Speed: 128 bpm The DJ's Take: For some reason, the buildup in this track makes me think of Sandstorm . Could it make its way up the charts? Maybe, although the key is kind of serious and Ne-Yo's never really had a dance hit where he was the featured performer. Very good workout music and dance mix filler, at the very least. Scream - Usher

tempo: 128 bpm bpm range: 125 to 130 bpm The DJ's Take: Former Top 10 hit in 2012, and if they ever start doing those Scream movies again , this could be a cool theme song. As a remnant of the pop edm era, it's aged relatively well, and should still work in a Top 40 set. Try mixing with: Somebody To Love (Remix) - Justin Bieber, Usher Like A G6 - Far East Movement Would You Ever - Skrillex & Poo Bear Byte - Martin Garrix & Brooks Pillowfight - Bassjackers, Skytech, Fafaq I Want You - Tiesto & Mike Williams Lions In The Wild - Martin Garrix & Third Party Ghost - Oliver Heldens Lift Me Up - David Guetta Whip It! - LunchMoney Lewis Sweet Lovin' - Sigala Won't Stop Rocking - R3hab & Headhunterz Heaven - Shaun Frank & KSHMR Poison - Martin Garrix Love Myself - Hailee Steinfeld Break Free - Ariana Grande ft. Zedd Five More Hours - Deorro x Chris Brown Five Hours - Deorro Don't Wake Me Up - Chris Brown Born To Ge...

Tonight (Best You Ever Had) - John Legend ft. Ludacris

Speed: 90 bpm The DJ's Take: You almost never hear legit R&B on the charts like this anymore, and that's a shame. Not worth it if you're spinning at a college bar or top 40 gig, but it deserves a spot in your personal playlist or in a lounge-type environment where 130 bpm is not a requirement. Turn on key adjust and mix with: Let Me Love You - Mario Download the song: Amazon:
