Throwback Thursday: Calle Ocho - Pitbull

tempo: 127 bpm

bpm range: 125 to 130 bpm

the DJ’s take: A Zumba dance class staple around the world, and an obvious choice for Pitbull's greatest hits album. This was hot around 2009, and if your crowd is in the right mood, it can set the floor on fire again. Try mixing with tracks like:

Evacuate The Dancefloor - Cascada
Now You See It - Honorebel ft. Pitbull and Jump Smokers
True Colors - Zedd & Ke$ha
Bailar - Deorro ft. Elvis Crespo
Liberate - Eric Prydz
Faith - Calvin Harris
Book of Love - Felix Jaehn
Let Me Love You - Ne-Yo
California Gurls - Katy Perry

dj mix/mashup: do you think of me [mariah carey] x always forever [bryson tiller]

Links: Made with Logic Pro at 72 bpm Fun little instrumental blend of Bryson Tiller's Always Forever , which we used in mix 66 , and Mariah Carey's Do You Think of Me , which ended up on the cutting room floor. As you can see up top, I broke out the scalpel and did some slicing to make the beats match up better. Final verdict: Worth it. Follow the playlist on djcheatsheet.com

DJ mix/mashup: no can do because of you (ft. Hall & Oates and Ne-Yo)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm A quick clip from the last mix , and one of my favorite transitions in it. Kind of alluring, mysterious; maybe we can make a more fully realized remix/mashup someday. If you're wondering what the image is in the background at the start of the video, those are quahogs and a channeled whelk I dug out of the sand in low tide on a recent beach trip. Pretty solid haul, and good eating for sure. Although I probably should've kept them separate - apparently whelks like to eat the clams .
