Throwback Thursday: Doo Wop (That Thing) - Lauryn Hill

tempo: 100 bpm

bpm range: 95 to 100 bpm100 to 105 bpm

the DJ’s take: Want a song from the 90s that people will still sing along to? Here you go. One of the biggest hits from my freshman year of college, and it represents the career apex of a great artist.

If you're in the 100 to 105 bpm range, try mixing with:

I Think Of You - Jeremih, Chris Brown, Big Sean
Kiss The Sky - The Knocks
Me & The Rhythm - Selena Gomez
Levels - Nick Jonas
Be Faithful - Fatman Scoop
Pretty Girls - Britney Spears ft. Iggy Azalea

If you're in the 95 to 100 bpm range, try going with tracks like:

Blem - Drake
Don't Tell Em - Jeremih
Back That Azz Up - Juvenile
Dreamlover - Mariah Carey
Slow Motion - Trey Songz

DJ mix/mashup: no can do because of you (ft. Hall & Oates and Ne-Yo)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm A quick clip from the last mix , and one of my favorite transitions in it. Kind of alluring, mysterious; maybe we can make a more fully realized remix/mashup someday. If you're wondering what the image is in the background at the start of the video, those are quahogs and a channeled whelk I dug out of the sand in low tide on a recent beach trip. Pretty solid haul, and good eating for sure. Although I probably should've kept them separate - apparently whelks like to eat the clams .

dj mix/mashup: 6 man [drake] x devil in a new dress [kanye west, rick ross]

Made with Logic Pro at 82 bpm Clip from mix #69 - two big beats on top of each other, which I could've done a better job adjusting for a cleaner sound. But if you listen to the actual mix, the transition sounds smooth; my goal for this video was to create a loop that feels like the first draft of a mashup/remix. Worth building on for a future project. Key- and bpm-compatible playlist
