Hold It Against Me - Britney Spears

tempo: 133 bpm

bpm range: 130 to 135 bpm

The DJ’s Take: Fist-pumping beat with a bad pickup line as a hook - sounds like 2011 to me. A former #1 hit in the US by an iconic modern pop artist, and a throwback you can drop on a club night or a Top 40 set in a loud bar.

Good list of key-compatible tracks in the 128-129 bpm range:

Beautiful - Akon ft. Colby O'Donnis
Shots - LMFAO
Blame - Calvin Harris ft. John NewmanThinking About You - Calvin Harris
Turn Me On - David Guetta ft. Nicki MinajWhere Have You Been - Rihanna
Don't Stop The Party - Black Eyed Peas
Give Me Everything - Pitbull ft. Ne-Yo & Afrojack
Just Can't Get Enough - Black Eyed Peas
Baby Got Back - Sir Mix-A-Lot

And from 130 to 135 bpm:

Till The World Ends - Britney Spears
Judas - Lady Gaga
Where Them Girls At - David Guetta ft. Flo Rida & Nicki Minaj
Take Over Control - Afrojack ft. Eva Simons
Cooler Than Me - Mike Posner

dj mix/mashup: do you think of me [mariah carey] x always forever [bryson tiller]

Links: Made with Logic Pro at 72 bpm Fun little instrumental blend of Bryson Tiller's Always Forever , which we used in mix 66 , and Mariah Carey's Do You Think of Me , which ended up on the cutting room floor. As you can see up top, I broke out the scalpel and did some slicing to make the beats match up better. Final verdict: Worth it. Follow the playlist on djcheatsheet.com

DJ mix/mashup: no can do because of you (ft. Hall & Oates and Ne-Yo)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm A quick clip from the last mix , and one of my favorite transitions in it. Kind of alluring, mysterious; maybe we can make a more fully realized remix/mashup someday. If you're wondering what the image is in the background at the start of the video, those are quahogs and a channeled whelk I dug out of the sand in low tide on a recent beach trip. Pretty solid haul, and good eating for sure. Although I probably should've kept them separate - apparently whelks like to eat the clams .
