Party - Beyoncé ft. J. Cole

Speed: 80.5 bpm

Recommended bpm range: 80 bpm to 85 bpm

The DJ's Take: Smooth, warm & laidback; I like it. Will people recognize this? Maybe. That said, they'll definitely recognize the voice, so it's all good. Not that I've spun it, but I'll guess young African-American females will be feeling this track.

If you're around 78-79 bpm, try mixing with Welcome to Jamrock - Damian Marley and Knock You Down - Keri Hilson ft. NeYo and Kanye West.

If you're in the 80 to 85 bpm range, consider going tracks like Bounce - 2 Chainz ft. Lil Wayne, Gotta Lotta - 2 Chainz ft. Lil Wayne, See You Again - Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth, The Heart Wants What It Wants - Selena Gomez, Love The Way You Lie - Eminem ft. Rihanna, Irreplaceable - Beyoncé, Come & Get It - Selena Gomez, and Started From The Bottom - Drake.

dj mix/mashup: do you think of me [mariah carey] x always forever [bryson tiller]

Links: Made with Logic Pro at 72 bpm Fun little instrumental blend of Bryson Tiller's Always Forever , which we used in mix 66 , and Mariah Carey's Do You Think of Me , which ended up on the cutting room floor. As you can see up top, I broke out the scalpel and did some slicing to make the beats match up better. Final verdict: Worth it. Follow the playlist on djcheatsheet.com

DJ mix/mashup: no can do because of you (ft. Hall & Oates and Ne-Yo)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm A quick clip from the last mix , and one of my favorite transitions in it. Kind of alluring, mysterious; maybe we can make a more fully realized remix/mashup someday. If you're wondering what the image is in the background at the start of the video, those are quahogs and a channeled whelk I dug out of the sand in low tide on a recent beach trip. Pretty solid haul, and good eating for sure. Although I probably should've kept them separate - apparently whelks like to eat the clams .
