Olé - John Newman

Speed: 90 bpm

Recommended bpm range: 90 to 95 bpm

The DJ's Take: So apparently this is Calvin Harris throwing shade at Taylor Swift (and yes, I only recently learned what 'shade' means). Or maybe he's just really into bullfighting; who knows. Nice, light summery feel that should work at a laidback outdoor party where people are sipping Corona Light and daintily nibbling on hors d'oeuvres.

If you're around 90 bpm, try mixing with:

Heathens - twenty one pilots
Youth - Troye Sivan
0 To 100 - Drake
Bailando - Enrique Iglesias
Partition - Beyoncé
Killing Me Softly - Fugees

If you're closer to 95 bpm, try mixing with Company - Justin Bieber, Misery - Gwen Stefani, Partition - Beyoncé, Animals - Maroon 5, and Survival of the Fittest - Mobb Deep.

dj mix/mashup: do you think of me [mariah carey] x always forever [bryson tiller]

Links: Made with Logic Pro at 72 bpm Fun little instrumental blend of Bryson Tiller's Always Forever , which we used in mix 66 , and Mariah Carey's Do You Think of Me , which ended up on the cutting room floor. As you can see up top, I broke out the scalpel and did some slicing to make the beats match up better. Final verdict: Worth it. Follow the playlist on djcheatsheet.com

DJ mix/mashup: no can do because of you (ft. Hall & Oates and Ne-Yo)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm A quick clip from the last mix , and one of my favorite transitions in it. Kind of alluring, mysterious; maybe we can make a more fully realized remix/mashup someday. If you're wondering what the image is in the background at the start of the video, those are quahogs and a channeled whelk I dug out of the sand in low tide on a recent beach trip. Pretty solid haul, and good eating for sure. Although I probably should've kept them separate - apparently whelks like to eat the clams .
