Redbone - Childish Gambino

tempo: 80 bpm

bpm range: 75 bpm to 80 bpm80 bpm to 85 bpm

the dj's take: First thought re: the song title - reminds me of Redbones, the bbq spot near my old apartment. Worth a visit if you ever go to Boston and feel like venturing outside downtown.

As for the song, feels like a slower version of Prince's The Most Beautiful Girl In The World. Or maybe just a general nod to D'Angelo and 70s funk / soul / r&b. Not really one for the club, but worth a spin in a chill bar environment.

Cool interview with the guy who made the beat:

And if you're staying [somewhat] key-compatible, try mixing with:

Family Feud - Jay-Z ft. Beyoncé
Black Widow - Iggy Azalea ft. Rita Ora
Reaper - Sia
Walk It Out - DJ Unk

DJ mix/mashup: no can do because of you (ft. Hall & Oates and Ne-Yo)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm A quick clip from the last mix , and one of my favorite transitions in it. Kind of alluring, mysterious; maybe we can make a more fully realized remix/mashup someday. If you're wondering what the image is in the background at the start of the video, those are quahogs and a channeled whelk I dug out of the sand in low tide on a recent beach trip. Pretty solid haul, and good eating for sure. Although I probably should've kept them separate - apparently whelks like to eat the clams .

dj mix/mashup: 6 man [drake] x devil in a new dress [kanye west, rick ross]

Made with Logic Pro at 82 bpm Clip from mix #69 - two big beats on top of each other, which I could've done a better job adjusting for a cleaner sound. But if you listen to the actual mix, the transition sounds smooth; my goal for this video was to create a loop that feels like the first draft of a mashup/remix. Worth building on for a future project. Key- and bpm-compatible playlist
