Microphone Fiend - Eric B. & Rakim

tempo: 94 bpm

bpm range: 90 to 95 bpm

the dj's take: Song #3 in our eight is not enough mix (4:15):

Hard-hitting beat that feels very different from the source of the sample:

The polar opposite of today's mumble rap - you can understand every lyric, and it's tremendous. Deserves a long-term spot in the rotation if you spin old school hiphop.

Try mixing with:

In My Feelings - Drake
Nice For What - Drake
Love Me Like You Do - Ellie Goulding
Hurt You - The Weeknd
El Perdón - Nicky Jam, Enrique Iglesias
Closer - The Chainsmokers
Don't - Ed Sheeran
Ride Out - Kid Ink, Tyga, YG, Wale & Rich Homie Quan

DJ mix/mashup: no can do because of you (ft. Hall & Oates and Ne-Yo)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm A quick clip from the last mix , and one of my favorite transitions in it. Kind of alluring, mysterious; maybe we can make a more fully realized remix/mashup someday. If you're wondering what the image is in the background at the start of the video, those are quahogs and a channeled whelk I dug out of the sand in low tide on a recent beach trip. Pretty solid haul, and good eating for sure. Although I probably should've kept them separate - apparently whelks like to eat the clams .

dj mix/mashup: 6 man [drake] x devil in a new dress [kanye west, rick ross]

Made with Logic Pro at 82 bpm Clip from mix #69 - two big beats on top of each other, which I could've done a better job adjusting for a cleaner sound. But if you listen to the actual mix, the transition sounds smooth; my goal for this video was to create a loop that feels like the first draft of a mashup/remix. Worth building on for a future project. Key- and bpm-compatible playlist
