The Biggest Hits of 2013

End of the year is coming, and we all know what that means. If you're a dj, time to consider what you're spinning at your holiday or New Year's gig. If you're hosting a party, you want to download some fun tracks for a playlist. And if you're just sentimental, it's fun to look back at the past year in pop.

So for the rest of the year, I'll be posting up tracks from 2013 that I think were pretty noteworthy. Just click the link for the song, and you'll either go to the post I wrote on it (with our world-famous mix recommendations) or straight to a digital download page. This list will grow over the next couple days, so check back often.

And if you have any recommendations or nominations, tweet us, leave a message on our Facebook page, or leave a comment.

Throwback Thursday: Billie Jean - Michael Jackson

Tempo: 117 bpm Bpm range: 115 to 120 bpm The DJ’s Take:  An iconic pop track that any dj should have in their rotation. No excuses. A good list of key-compatible songs to mix or mash up with, including: Solo Dance - Martin Jensen Routine - Alan Walker x David Whistle Safe And Sound - Justice D.A.N.C.E. - Justice Say My Name - ODESZA ft. Zyra This Town (Tiesto Remix) - Niall Horan Welcome - Martin Garrix & Julian Jordan Get Lucky - Daft Punk If you're willing to drop a couple bpm's, blending this with Poison - Bell Biv Devoe is pure gold. Starboy - The Weeknd, Daft Punk

tempo: 93 bpm bpm range: 90 to 95 bpm The DJ's Take: Song #6 in our chapter 53 mix (11:38): As we saw with the I Wonder lead-in, that percussion-only intro makes this easier to mix and to play around with. Also melts nicely into Nine Inch Nails' Closer . In fact, even though I know when the transition's coming, it still creeps up on me a bit. Still worth a spot in your prime-time pop rotation. Some other key-compatible music: Old Thing Back - Matoma & Notorious BIG Back To Sleep - Chris Brown One More Chance (Remix) - Notorious BIG Shoop - Salt N Pepa Out of the Woods - Taylor Swift This Is How We Do - Katy Perry Na Na - Trey Songz Paranoid - Ty Dolla $ign No Games - Serani Download or stream Starboy: spotify playlist amazon

DNA. - Kendrick Lamar

tempo: 70 bpm bpm range:   65 bpm  to  70 bpm ,  70 bpm  to  75 bpm the dj's take: Perfect song for an adDJ - ~100 seconds that will boom through the speakers and rile up the crowd before you move on to the next banger. If you spin hiphop, this one needs to be in the rotation for the foreseeable future. Keep in mind this morphs into a second song at around 1:50 with a bpm of 65 bpm. And in case you were wondering why actor Don Cheadle is in the video: Interesting tracks to mix with at 65 to 70 bpm (scroll down in the box below): goosebumps - Travis Scott Make Love - Gucci Mane ft.
