#SELFIE - The Chainsmokers

Speed: 128 bpm

Recommended bpm range: 125 to 130 bpm

The DJ's Take: The beat is like a heavier version of PSY's Gentleman with a female voiceover that reminds me of Frank Zappa's Valley Girl. Having spent enough time on Instagram over the past few months, I think you could sneak this in during a 125 to 130 bpm mix in a club full of twenty-somethings and they could definitely identify.

How many selfies have you taken in the past week?

DJ mix/mashup: no can do because of you (ft. Hall & Oates and Ne-Yo)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm A quick clip from the last mix , and one of my favorite transitions in it. Kind of alluring, mysterious; maybe we can make a more fully realized remix/mashup someday. If you're wondering what the image is in the background at the start of the video, those are quahogs and a channeled whelk I dug out of the sand in low tide on a recent beach trip. Pretty solid haul, and good eating for sure. Although I probably should've kept them separate - apparently whelks like to eat the clams .

dj mix/mashup: 6 man [drake] x devil in a new dress [kanye west, rick ross]

Made with Logic Pro at 82 bpm Clip from mix #69 - two big beats on top of each other, which I could've done a better job adjusting for a cleaner sound. But if you listen to the actual mix, the transition sounds smooth; my goal for this video was to create a loop that feels like the first draft of a mashup/remix. Worth building on for a future project. Key- and bpm-compatible playlist
