Impatient - Jeremih ft. Ty Dolla $ign

Speed: 90 bpm

Recommended bpm range: 85 bpm to 90 bpm, 90 to 95 bpm

The DJ's Take: Pretty much your basic contemporary R&B beat with a couple moderately well-known performers. Worth a spot in the warmup portion of a pop or hiphop set. On a side note, I bet Ty Dolla $ign and Chris Brown must be in a dead heat for most prolific guest artist in the industry.

If you're in the 85 to 90 bpm range, try mixing or mashing up with key-compatible tracks like:

New Americana - Halsey
Nobody To Love - Sigma
Drankin' Patna - T-Pain
How Many Drinks - Miguel
Part II (On The Run) - Jay-Z ft. Beyoncé
Me and My Broken Heart - Rixton
Obsessed - Mariah Carey

If you're in the 90 to 95 bpm range, try mixing with tracks like:

dj mix/mashup: do you think of me [mariah carey] x always forever [bryson tiller]

Links: Made with Logic Pro at 72 bpm Fun little instrumental blend of Bryson Tiller's Always Forever , which we used in mix 66 , and Mariah Carey's Do You Think of Me , which ended up on the cutting room floor. As you can see up top, I broke out the scalpel and did some slicing to make the beats match up better. Final verdict: Worth it. Follow the playlist on djcheatsheet.com

DJ mix/mashup: no can do because of you (ft. Hall & Oates and Ne-Yo)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm A quick clip from the last mix , and one of my favorite transitions in it. Kind of alluring, mysterious; maybe we can make a more fully realized remix/mashup someday. If you're wondering what the image is in the background at the start of the video, those are quahogs and a channeled whelk I dug out of the sand in low tide on a recent beach trip. Pretty solid haul, and good eating for sure. Although I probably should've kept them separate - apparently whelks like to eat the clams .
