Through The Wire - Kanye West

tempo: 83 bpm

bpm range: 80 bpm to 85 bpm

the dj's take: Leadoff song in detour 44:

Had to do a little surgery in Logic Pro X for the transition into the next single:

That's kind of the blessing and the curse of technology (as someone who didn't use software until well after I quit dj'ing) - I had a certain way I wanted it to sound, but the music and the beat structure weren't quite cooperating. Worked out in the end, after some trial and error on my part.

And just in case you were wondering if I'm a fan of this track, we used it to end Episode 38 (17:34):

Took the last little section of the song and stuck it in the beginning to avoid clashing with the Taylor Swift vocals:

Crisis averted. Unlike the 2009 VMAs.

DJ mix/mashup: no can do because of you (ft. Hall & Oates and Ne-Yo)

Made with Logic Pro at 113 bpm A quick clip from the last mix , and one of my favorite transitions in it. Kind of alluring, mysterious; maybe we can make a more fully realized remix/mashup someday. If you're wondering what the image is in the background at the start of the video, those are quahogs and a channeled whelk I dug out of the sand in low tide on a recent beach trip. Pretty solid haul, and good eating for sure. Although I probably should've kept them separate - apparently whelks like to eat the clams .

dj mix/mashup: 6 man [drake] x devil in a new dress [kanye west, rick ross]

Made with Logic Pro at 82 bpm Clip from mix #69 - two big beats on top of each other, which I could've done a better job adjusting for a cleaner sound. But if you listen to the actual mix, the transition sounds smooth; my goal for this video was to create a loop that feels like the first draft of a mashup/remix. Worth building on for a future project. Key- and bpm-compatible playlist
